For those interested in volunteering and not afraid of hard manual labor! There's a project by a company that a friend of mine is working at. Basically, it's building a kampung from scratch. The work is still in progress. Location is in Malaysia, near Johor (30mins drive).

According to my friend, there is one-day trip held fortnightly. 9am - 5pm. Cost is about ~SGD$10 [TBC. Covers meal and transport]. Pengerang R & R 3D 2N Chalet & Cycling Trip (Cancelled)

Description & Notes to take

We will have to cycle in a convoy, and remain on the main roads.

Sungei Rengit's Good Luck Seafood Restoran will be the first meeting point. After that, we will cycle together to our accommodation at Teluk Ramunia (Ramunia Beach Resort). Check Location of Sungei Rengit in the map above.

Tentatively 11th to 13th December 2009 Friday to Sunday (Chalet booking in progress)

Day One

1245 hrs: Meet at Changi Village Nasi Lemak stall for lunch

1330 hrs: Take bumboat from Changi Point jetty (45 min boat ride)

(Fee for bumboat Per Person $7)

1430 hrs: Arrive at Pengerang Tanjung Pengelih Jetty

1630 hrs: Arrive at Sungei Rengit (20 km, 2 hr bike ride)

1700 hrs: Arrive at Chalet in Ramunia Beach Resort.

Options for evening after settling down (open to discussion):

*Watch sunset.
*BBQ dinner.

Day Two

0800 hrs: Wake up and Breakfast:

1030 hrs: Visit Ostrich farm (About 3km from chalet)

1200 hrs: Lunch at Good Luck Seafood Restoran (About 14km from Chalet; 2km from Ostrich farm)

1400 hrs: Leisure/Sports/Exploration (Open to discussion)

1800 hrs: Picnic over sunset/Dinner (Open to discussion)

2000 hrs: Night Activities/Games/L4D 2 (Open to discussion)

Day Three

0900 hrs: Morning Glory

1000 hrs: Pack up and head for Pengerang Tanjung Pengelih Jetty

1330 hrs: Arrive at Pengerang Tanjung Pengelih jetty (Note: last bumboat leaves at 1600 hrs)

Tentatively set for Saturday early morning departure on Coach.

Time: To be confirmed.

Price: Price is $190 per room for 3D2N, Coach service to and fro is $130.

Intention is to get one room, and depends on how many people going, 4 of us will share 1 room. So 2 person will just need to get the Coach service only. By dividing the room, 1 person will be paying $48 per room.
